BEARS WIN IAC LAX BY BEATING BULLIS 7-4
The story of the 2012 Bears’ lacrosse team has been a Band of 40 Bear Brothers and again the theme has been the display of character. Tonight at Bullis, we can put a BIG exclamation point on that statement of their constitution sentence. THESE ARE BEARS!!!
Tonight, when the teams played even, the Bears shut out the Bulldogs (average Goals scored per game 8.0); all of the home team goals were tallied when the Bears were serving a penalty. The Bear offense executed its game plan exquisitely—seven goals scored by 4 players and assists by 3 Bears.
LANDON LAX 6 RP 4
This portended to be a tough game because the Bears were coming off a disappointing loss, because it is VERY difficult to sweep your traditional rival and because after half and particularly in the 4th quarter IT RAINED and holding a lead under inclement weather is always challenging. What overcomes such adversity—character, team leadership and consistent, aggressive effort from all 40 boys. Today, the fans at Bordley Stadium saw the Class of 2012 and all 30 of the other Bear Brothers have those characteristics. BEARS 6 -- RP 4.
[Coincidentally there were recruiting coaches from Brown, Dartmouth, Georgetown and Penn in attendance; they obviously knew that the game would be a fertile field for finding talent.]

One of Landon’s Most Important Assets
The Landon Athletic Complex has a number of incredibly impressive facilities—from Bordley Field at Triplett Stadium’s first rate surface and comfortable stands, to the legendary Jacoby Courts, to the fantastic Barton Athletic Center—the Lehrman Atrium, the Riddleburger Gymnasium and the Freeman Center for Athletic Achievement to numerous other fields and facilities. Hidden in the bowels of the BAC, which few parents have seen, is a most important room, occupied by Matt Virtue andStephen Herman.
LANDON LACROSSE 9 EPISCOPAL 6
Today’s game was the last regular season IAC game and senior’s day. The Maroon, 11-6 with a 7.6 GF average, have a 1st rate coach, Scott Conklin (a 2 time AA and twice 1st team All Ivy attackman) who usually gets the most out of his boys. The game was being observed by the Penn Lacrosse Coach. On Friday, the Bears face DC’s #1 ranked team. All those distractions may have contributed to less than energetic play by the home team. A vigorous 3rd period and part of the 4th created a six goal advantage, Bears 9 Maroon 6.
