LANDON HOCKEY 4 SAINT ALBANS 2
From the Bears' Den-
The Bulldogs, tonight, showed how they beat RP- a hot goalie, solid defense and a very soft approach to the neutral zone. Yesterday’s strategy did not work against the Bears. LANDON 4 StA 2
The home team was able to cope with this pressure with exceptional play by Goalie Sam Kroll; though not facing a plethora of shots, he occasionally saw a cherry picking StA forward coming across the blue line. He had 5 saves in the 0-0 first period, but all were in response to quality Bulldog shots. He repeated this critical save pattern in every period.
StA score 1st on a power play goal early in the second period. (13:37). Max Greenwald registered the Bears initial score @ 4:41 and Matt Potolicchio and David Lackner had assists. End of 2nd period L1 StA 1
The last frame started auspiciously with a PP goal by Max and assists to Connor Meike (11:12). L2 StA 1. Connor added a second assist by passing to Ian Schneider at 6:13. StA scored their last goal, again a power play and again Sam was screened at 1:40.
The visitors pulled their goalie and skated 6 on 5. The Bears broke out of the StA O zone and Matt buried the shot on an empty net.
Final Score Landon 4 StA 2.
The That's A Bear Award goes to Ian Schneider who scored the go ahead goal and played ferociously at both ends.
MAPHL on Friday Laurel Ice Gardens 7pm. BSN will have its crack reporter on site.
Good luck Bears.
